Want to know about your free plant seeds? Start here.

So, you got some seeds from me at Taste of Lilburn? Awesome! Nice to have met you. I chose plants that are container-friendly in the case that you don’t currently have a yard (I can help you solve that problem if you want to). These can, of course, also be planted in the ground. They will all grow in our USDA Hardiness Zone 8a or 8b, depending on what part of the Atlanta Metro you live in. Gwinnett is mostly 8a, but some of our surrounding counties have a lot more of the 8b zone. Check it out here, if you’re curious.

For all of these seeds, I recommend checking out some of my favorite seed catalog resources.

Urban Farmer, Southern Exposure Seed Exchange, Sow True Seed, and Baker Creek Heirloom.

Other amazing resources are our local UGA Cooperative Extension Offices. You can call them, email them, visit their offices (especially if you want to do a soil test before you start planting), or meet a Master Gardener at the local farmer’s markets. UGA conducts a lot of research on plants that grow in our climate, as do the other colleges in other states that are in our same zone. A .edu web address for plant information is usually a fantastic place to start reading if you really want to learn a lot.
